Summary of Work done in Introduction to Computer Science 2008-2009

Summary Reflection of the Year

This year was a very interesting year in Computer Sciences. We did three major global collaborations (one of which I went to Qatar to participate), learned much about classifications of many different technologies, and are fixing to do robots. The most interesting new technologies I learned about were Semantic-Aware Applications. These are devices and technologies that can understand the person that they work with. I believe these will be dominant in education within the next few years. My three favorite things we did this year were the global collaborations: the Flatclassroom Conference, the Netgened project, and the Flatclassroom project. During these projects, we got to collaborate with people around the world and also make fun videos. Technology is a powerful tool in the world. It can probably be used best in education, but some will not allow it because they are used to the old fashioned way. They also fear the new technologies and are not educated on how to adapt to the technologies. Technology should be used in education not only to help people learn but to also help others learn how to adapt to the never-changing technologies of the world. If everyone would learn how to adapt to changing technologies education would be greatly improved.

Reflections

Global Collaboration

I participated in the following global collaborations:
Flatclassroom Conference (participated in person)
Netgened project
Flatclassroom project
Digiteen project

My outsourced video

My video for the Flatclassroom project was about Google. It includes interesting facts and information.
My outsourced video was for Julica B. from Kansas. It was about somebody looking for their phone.

The FlatClassroom project was an interesting experience. It was out first major online collaboration of the year. My topic was Group 7 Google and my sub-topic was Group 7A Google- The Story. We learned about Google and explaining how they became the industrial giant they are today.

Flat Classroom Conference

The Flat Classroom Conference in Qatar was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. I had the privilege of going in person and the desert is quite a different place than south Georgia. The best part of the contest was that our group's video, Eracism, won the prize of best video in the conference.

My outsourced video

My video was about Semantic-Aware Apps in education. I received second place place in my category and honorable mention in the overall category.
My outsourced video was for Maura P. It was about someone dancing with a computer. My outsourced that I received was from Jasmin about climates.

The NetGenEd project was an interesting experience. During this project, I collaborated with people around the world and did a wiki. I also made a video that won second place for my category and honorable mention for the overall project.
